Street Fighter: The Movie has the same gameplay as Super Street Fighter II. Six buttons to hit (soft/medium/strong fist, and soft/medium/strong kick), the same classic movements (Hadoken, Shoryken, etc.), and the possibility of performing Super Combos by filling the typical bar for that purpose. New combat maneuvers are added such as the ComeBack Move (a special hit that can only be done when the health level is very low) and the Regen Move (a move that allows the fighter to recover some health).

Graphics

Jean-Claude Van Damme and the rest of the cast of the film actively participated in this video game, capturing all their movements frame by frame, and thus being able to animate them as in the original video game. Obviously Raúl Juliá does not appear in the video game (only on the wrestler selection screen), because he died after shooting the movie (although his likeness is only used in the game's presentation, which uses scenes from the movie). Therefore, all of Bison's animations were done by actor Darko Tuscan. Blade's character (exclusive to the arcade version) is Alan Noon, one of the specialists at Incredible Technologies (the developer of the arcade). The end result was a 2D fighting game with digitized real actors, very similar to the Mortal Kombat saga. The settings were also inspired by those featured in the film (the military base, the black market, the underground fighting cage, the fortress of M. Bison, etc.)
