The objective of the game is much narrower than the plot of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, where the player Luke Skywalker has to pilot a landspeeder on Tatooine, find R2-D2 in a Sandcrawler, Obi-Wan Kenobi in a cave , and Han Solo in the Mos Eisley cantina. After finding all the characters, the user navigates the Millennium Falcon (in a 1st-person perspective) through an asteroid field until arriving at the Death Star. After reaching the Death Star, the user is forced to destroy the tractor beam generator, rescuing Princess Leia.

Other Versions

The Sega Game Gear version had some unique levels. In this version the player starts with Leia delivering the stolen plans to R2-D2. The speeder over planet in this version doesn't exist, replaced by about three levels.
