Star Wars is the Star Wars. There's nothing to talk about. Bright flashes in space, light swords of an incomprehensible level of sharpening, force piercing the universe, good and evil ... With all this, each of us is familiar to one degree or another, including myself even as a karapuz, was closely watching how Luke Skywalker finds sister, overcomes the desire for incest and kills his father. You can say that Star Wars replaced me with Indian cinema. But the games were tight. This is now Lucasarts almost nothing and does not except an endless line of star wars, but before they released stunning original quests and then somehow not to the Star Wars was, at least on the PC. But on the 3DO Interactive Multiplayer, it turned out differently - the game from Lucas Arts there was only one and it was called as easy to guess Star Wars: Rebel Assault. That is, there were no quests, but there were "wars", but it's good or bad, you need to think about it
In principle, the fact that the quests were not, then of course bad, but that released exactly Rebel Assault is certainly good, because the game, if not remarkable, it is quite decent. Now they do not do that anymore. In fact, it was a light mixture of subspecies of an interactive shooting range. Other levels - well, just some kind of Microcosm, while others are practically well, Sewer Shark. That is, suppose one level, literally a top view, and you see your fighter shooting droids, bots and other robots, which is lower. Another level, will force you to save your ship by navigating it through the narrow corridors of the caves. The third level you are already sitting in the pilot's cabin and destroy enemy equipment, or dodging meteorites. At the same time, provided with a certain freedom (you can move a car anyway), you are required to shoot only sharply, and at the right time to press the necessary buttons. It may seem that it is boring, but in principle it drags on.
A also draws on thanks to the excellent implementation. There are no special wonders for graphics, but what is painted is perfectly drawn. Sometimes such kinds open, that directly the spirit grasps. However, for the fans of the film, there is also a video. In general, between missions, you are shown either a fragment from a film (of very low quality), or something drawn, the content of all this amounts to the fact that you always have to smash something. As mentioned above, in missions you depend little on management, but there are cyclical levels in which you will fly until you destroy all targets or stages in which you will need to control the ship so as not to crash into obstacles. Sometimes, these two types of levels will be combined. After passing, a password is given, remembering which one can always return to this or that level.
In addition to the password itself, there are a few more settings. So for example your character can be female and male, the third one is not given. Those who do not understand English can turn on subtitles. The rest can change the control, the level of complexity, and just adjust the sound. Speaking of sound. In addition to the sounds proper, there is music, and such that it would be a little bit like it was in Return Fire, but there the music attached morale, here it irritates me personally, because it can also be turned off and can fly to the sounds of blasters .
footage from Star Wars: Rebel Assault With them in general anecdote. Where the arrow there and a shot, and even in the event that the shot was made before you moved the arrow of the sight. That is, what, what, and there is no realism. On the other hand, that it was not in the film, and all the flaws can be thrown on the force, or even the Force, which says the very rays of the death of good people, directs the villains. All this is of interest to the game, it does not take away. It is clear that not Wing Commander and not even Phoenix 3, but yes there is a completely different genre, a completely different level of interactivity, that is, you can not compare these projects. Well, then, do not say that, and the Star Wars brand is a powerful thing, and it's probably great that after watching a film from the series, you can even imagine yourself as a rebel on 3DO and kick ass of the whole empire.
On the screen with the Lucas Arts logo, press Up + A, Down + A, Left + A, Right + A
until you hear a signal (the sequence is performed several times). To skip, press C during the game.
Three passwords are given for easy, normal and heavy difficulty levels, respectively.
