In the PlayStation collection there is an excellent version of the famous racing game Need For Speed, originally developed for the 3DO console. Although it does not shine with such technical achievements as the Namco Ridge Racer game, you will enjoy the choice of excellent cars and the dizzying imitation of driving. Magnificent graphics, fantastic sound, the 8 best super cars in the world, three huge race tracks, incredible detailed play mode for the recorded race, long lasting colorful and sonorous catastrophes, a clever opponent, a group of fast policemen and, of course, realistic car control (as far as possible for the gaming consoles). Take time to play it, and you will give credit to the creators.
At your service - eight models of cars (Lamborghini, Porsche, Chevrolet, Ferrari, Dodge, Akura, Mazda and Taiot) - and three game modes: you can fight with time (for the best indicator of passing the route or segment of the route), with another driver or with seven rivals. When playing together, you can use a slightly slow, but still fascinating mode with a split screen.
You can race along the three routes, which are available in the 3DO version - urban, coastal and mountainous, - yes, plus we'll also rub the ring routes (not counting the secret route). Among other novelties, it is worth noting the handbrake, improved speedometer and tachometer, as well as three types of lighting conditions - daylight, dawn and dusk.
After such improvements, this game is in no way inferior to the version of 3DO, and in many respects it exceeds (in something, and in something and not - but more on that later, but in general the author is wrong, the version for 3DO is the best!) ; beautiful landscapes sweep by even faster, and the process of improving the style of the race carries away so much that you involuntarily start the game again and again.
The control panels require your vigilant attention. Each car has its own specificity, and it must be mastered. The ardent motorists this game will undoubtedly carry away, although fans of arcade races, the game can tire.
You will be captured by this speed! In the game Need For Speed, you will have to pass tests on treacherous mountain roads and traffic jams in city streets. Around you are wonderful colorful landscapes (but there is also the pallor of city streets) with lots of details. But the machines in motion look rather arbitrary, schematically (on 3DO they looked much better). True, it pays off great video stories, representing each brand of cars (but the bully-opponent is present in the 3DO version).
The soundtrack complements the feeling that you are sitting behind the wheel of a car. In this case, the engine of each car sounds in its own way - if you, of course, turn off the music (or make it quieter).
What can be compared to the pleasure of giving full gas to Ferrari or Lamborghini? The game Need For Speed gives you the opportunity to experience this pleasure extraordinarily.
