On the terrible Halloween night of 1747, Doctor Evil was tied to a cola and burned for witchcraft, and his ancestor, Jimmy Harkman, Jonathan Hurckman, roasted it. Returning from the grave in 1992, Dr. Evil first turned the grandfather of Jimmy (Grandpa) into a pumpkin. Midnight Mutants tells the story of a young man, Jimmy, who on the night of Halloween in 1992 receives this terrible news.
Jimmy goes on a Halloween journey, searching for a means for the return of the grandfather in human form. In the absence of Doctor Evil, Jimmy surveys the neighborhoods that are inundated with hideous creatures: zombies, werewolves, bats and other evil spirits. Fortunately, Grandpa in his pumpkin guise can prompt Jimmy and give good advice. Go immediately to search, collecting weapons, things to cope with evil spirits, bosses, and in the end, and with Doctor Evil.
Before us is an invaluable diamond in the collection of games Atari 7800! Midnight Mutants is not like anything else, games of this genre for the Atari 7800 simply did not go out! Adventure with elements of RPG and strategy, in the style of nightmares! And the quality of performance does not cause any complaints. Magnificent sound and graphics, a beautifully detailed world including a forest, a pumpkin bunch, a mansion and a cemetery. In the manual there is a map, but without it you can safely play. The only rough spots I noticed: once I managed to fly into the lawn, where I can not get out, and the character's movement obeys isometric laws, so it's necessary to get used to it. All play indiscriminately!

Interesting Facts

Midnight Mutants and Sentinel were the latest releases from Atari for the Atari 7800.
In the manual there is a line: "copyright 1990 SNK", but it seems like SNK did not apply to this masterpiece of their efforts at all.
Finally, I advise you to take a closer look at Grandpa. Does he remind you of anyone? For the uninitiated, it just looks like a vampire. For the rest, it's Grampa Munster, Al Lewis, a brilliant actor who has become famous for his vivid roles in horror films.
