"Shadow of the Ninja" ("Yami no Shigotonin Kage" in Japan, "Blue Shadow" in Europe) is a platform game developed by Natsume in 1990 exclusively for the NES gaming console. As the name implies, the game is devoted to the theme of ninja and martial arts. By the way, from the title of the European version of the game were removed all references to ninjas in connection with the policy of regulation of the content that existed in Europe at that time. In the same year, the development team also released the game "Ninja Gaiden Shadow", which combines the elements of the game "Shadow of the Ninja" and the popular series "Ninja Gaiden".
The plot of the game is this. Elected in 2029, the evil dictator Emperor Garuda took full control of the United States and built a stronghold in the heart of the country called the "largest city." To stop the villain and avenge the innocent people who disappeared During his reign, two ninja masters from the Iga clan Hayate and Kaede go to the impregnable fortress of the emperor in order to kill him.
At the beginning of the game, you can choose one of two characters. Hayate and Kaede can run, attack, jump, crouch and cling to the beams with the aid of a harpoon. At first our heroes are armed only with short katana swords (which can be extended during the game), but in the process of playing they can get a much more powerful weapon. The game has a simultaneous game mode for two players, with the number of attempts being common for two players. In total, the game has five levels, consisting of several parts. At the end of each level, there is a battle with the boss.
