As in Seasons, Triforce calls Link. Link is transported to a forest in the land of Labrynna, where he hears some cries. In a forest clearing, he finds a woman surrounded by monsters. When the monsters see Link, they scatter in all directions. The woman is Princess Zelda's nurse, Impa, who asks for help in finding a singer. After walking a little way through the forest, they find a young girl with blue hair singing on the stump of a tree. His name is Nayru. Suddenly, a shadow emerges from the interior of Impa and appears as Veran, Sorceress of the Shadows. Veran enters the body of Nayru and possesses it. Later it is revealed that Nayru is the "Oracle of the times"; His abduction provokes a disorder in the transition of time in Labrynna.Link receives a sword from Impa and begins to traverse the region until he reaches the Maku Tree in Lynn City, the capital of Labrynna. The Maku Tree disappears because of Veran's actions Link uses a hole in time to travel To the past and save it. The Maku Tree tells Link that he will need the eight "Essences of Time" to defeat Veran. From this, Link begins the quest for the Essences, hidden in eight dungeons throughout Labrynna's past and present. After reuniting the sixth, Link is informed that he will have an opportunity to save Nayru, consisting of invading Queen Ambi's Castle and eliminating Veran's spirit (which he now owns to Nayru). In doing so, Veran then possesses the Queen Ambi. Link gets the remaining Essences and takes them to the Maku Tree, who uses them to create the "Great Maku Seed" that allows Link to enter the "Black Tower" of Veran. Link ascends the tower and beats the sorceress after Which rescues the Queen Ambi. In the end, Nayru tells him that everything is back to normal. The Birova twins, observing the situation from a distance, contend that Veran has lit the "Flame of Agony".
